The mission of CDEM is to reach Monte Cristi and the surrounding areas with the saving message of Jesus Christ. CDEM is lead by Alberto Rivas and a great team of Dominican pastors and workers that help with the preaching, evangelism, music, teaching, youth and children’s ministry along with other ministry needs. Sandy and Valerie Lamm joined our team in June of 2008. They host our work teams, work closely with Alberto in administration, help with the men’s and women’s ministries, and serve in countless other areas. CDEM is a mission organization that employs Dominican national pastors and staff to help make it all possible. CDEM is currently a ministry of the Cedar Falls Church of Christ in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with the senior pastor, Dennis Platt as Chairman. The Board meets regularly to offer support to Alberto and his staff ministerially and financially. What We Do Plant Churches 2001 – Monte Cristi 2004 – Madre, a nearby village 2008 – Buenos Aires, in the neighborhood by our baseball field We also provide support for the church meeting in Barrero. Evangelize We reach out to the community through regular door-to-door Bible studies and free English classes that use the Bible as the textbook. Meet Needs We were able to provide food for 200 families in 2004 and over 500 families in 2008 when the area experienced devastating floods. We have housed Dominicans and Haitians during floods and hurricanes. We also help with many other physical and spiritual needs in the community as they arise. Minister Through Sports We form relationships through baseball, softball, soccer, basketball and volleyball. In many cases, this has provided an open door for the gospel.
